Safe Point Brewery Co. was a really fun project to work on. I created the name, concept, packaging, and artwork.

Here are a few preliminary drawings I sketched for the logo:

Once I had a clear understanding of my design, I sketched a rough mock up of one of the beer labels.

With that done, it was time to create my label in Illustrator. Here was my process:

Finally, photography. I went to B&H to purchase lighting equipment and took some photographs. While working on this project, I realized that glass (particularly glass bottles) is extremely difficult to light correctly. Reflections are everywhere; ceiling, curtain, walls, furniture. We did the best we could and made it look even better later on in Photoshop.

Last Sunday I casually sent The Dieline a submission for my concept chocolate bar package, Stache Chocolate. I had no expectations and was simply proud of myself for submitting my work to a highly recognizable and respectable packaging blog.

Later that week I slipped away from a project I was working on for my daily dose of package inspiration. As I slowly scrolled down the site, my eyes scanned the beautiful slab serif header that read “‘Stach Chocolate.” I turned my head away from the computer monitor in disbelieve… “no that has to be another project with the same name…” I told myself, but with another few clicks of the mouse, I saw the images I sent The Dieline. “HOLY CRAP! THAT’S MY PROJECT!!!” My hands started shaking with amazement; I couldn’t type my Facebook status fast enough; I was thrilled.

‘Stache Chocolate was originally created for a packaging class I took last year at School of Visual Arts. The package still needed a lot of work, so I scrapped everything but the concept and logo. With the motivation of my boyfriend, I tightened the design of the box by grabbing inspiration and feeding it into the concept I wanted to portray. I worked very hard on this project and am so excited to it is being recognized and appreciated by fellow designers.

Please take a look at my project at The Dieline here.

Welcome to the new jennsager.com website! I am really really proud of and happy with the way the new site came out. Don’t let the clean and effortless design fool you. This site took a ton of conceptualizing, planning, designing, editing, omitting, and time… lots of time. Needless to say, this was a very challenging project (most likely because I was my own client and we all know how that usually turns out…) and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

I look forward to updating the blog frequently and sharing my inspiration and artwork with you.

Cheers!
